Responsible behaviour in schools

Original commitments 2006

  1. Avoid engaging in any direct commercial activity in primary schools, unless otherwise requested by school authorities.
  2. In secondary schools:
    1. Unbranded vending machines, respecting the commercial-free nature of schools
    2. Ensure that a full range of beverages is available including no and low-sugar varieties, water and juices
    3. Involve parents and educators in the choice of beverages available

Why we do this:

UNESDA acknowledges that school authorities, parents and caregivers wish to retain responsibility for what their children consume while they are at school so the corporate signatories to its commitments do not offer their products for sale in primary schools.
