The joint meeting of the High Level Group and EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health takes place in Luxembourg

On 26 October the joint meeting of the High Level Group and the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health took place in Luxembourg. The meeting was given in the presence of the Austrian EU Presidency that presented the political commitments made so far at European level to tackle obesity and other diet-related diseases. The session explored a number of issues of relevance to the sector including some of the recent developments in the area of nutrition and physical activity, including the work of the EU Commission as regards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
UNESDA is a founding member of the EU Platform and supports its tangible actions on nutrition and physical activity, which are essential for health promotion and disease prevention. Last year UNESDA also formally submitted two of its most recent commitments: one on sugar reduction and the initiative in EU secondary schools.
