UNESDA submits contribution to the public consultation on marine litter & single use plastics

Last week, UNESDA submitted its formal contribution to the European Commission’s consultation on reducing marine litter and single use plastics. We expressed our support to a holistic and multi-stakeholder approach to tackle the complex issues of marine litter by strengthening waste management and enforcing waste legislation to ensure effective household collection. In particular UNESDA called for strong EPR minimum requirements to encourage waste collection and recycling.
This public consultation will serve as basis for the Commission’s proposal on single-use plastics later in 2018.
