UNESDA to participate to first meeting of Circular Plastics Alliance aiming to make EU economy more circular

On 5 February, UNESDA will join the Circular Plastics Alliance high level launch event hosted by European Commission Vice-President Katainen. UNESDA will be one of 30 organisations to attend from the among the 70 which have pledged through the formal EU register to support the uptake of 10 million tons of recycled plastics by 2025.

UNESDA will be represented by Bruno Van Gompel from the The Coca-Cola Company and will share the vision, ambitions and solutions of the sector to make our packaging more sustainable and accelerate progress at EU level.

The Alliance aims to help boost both supply and demand of recycled plastics and the first meeting will seek to confirm the mandate as proposed by the European Commission. Remaining challenges and bottlenecks will be addressed through the setting up of operational working groups that will meet between March and June.

The Alliance will reconvene at a high level in September to adopt a declaration and roadmap.
