What’s on a label? FoodDrinkEurope launches new Reference Intakes website

In view of the entry into force of the EU Regulation on the provision of food information to consumers on Saturday 13 December, FoodDrinkEurope launches a website to explain the concept of Reference Intakes i.e. the recommended types and quantities of foods and drinks per day for an average person.
The purpose of this new website is to help consumers familiarise themselves with the new EU labelling rules and the Reference Intakes label – the new term for the nutrition icon(s) which can be found on the front of pack of many food and drink products.
Clear and concise labelling provides consumers with nutritional information and enables them to make informed choices. The website allows consumers to explore the new Reference Intakes label through easy-to-understand infographics.
Visitors can also take an interactive quiz to test their understanding of labels and get tips about living a healthy lifestyle.
The website also features useful tools for food and drink manufacturers, especially SMEs, who can learn more about the EU legislation and download the Reference Intakes templates to use on their products.
